Lift Up Sarpy County is thrilled to announce that Leadership Sarpy has chosen Lift Up Sarpy to be the recipient of dollars raised through the inaugural Serving for a Stronger Community, Corporate Challenge, a pickleball tournament to be held August 24, 2024 at the new Smash Park in Papillion!
The mission of Leadership Sarpy is to develop leaders who will actively engage in strengthening Sarpy County and promoting its well-being, and part of that activity is addressing the needs of others in the Sarpy Community.
The purpose of the fundraiser is twofold: Raise awareness of food insecurity in Sarpy County and begin to fix the immediate need in our schools of helping to pay down Student’s School Lunch Debts, focusing first on graduation seniors. The long-term goal of the project is to be a yearly fundraiser to raise money to help school children in Sarpy County facing food insecurity.
All funds raised will go towards paying down the nearly $150,000 lunch school debt of students at Sarpy County schools.
Why is the debt so large in Sarpy County? When compared to OPS students who are not required to pay for food received in schools, Sarpy County Students are required to pay for all food received (including breakfast and lunches).
This one-day tournament is sure to be fun for all levels of players! We hope to see you there!
