This family-friendly event is a fundraiser to benefit Lift Up Sarpy County

Law & Order Slugfest logoSeveral law enforcement divisions from Sarpy County will be competing in a softball tournament dubbed the Law & Order Slugfest, on Sunday, September 10, starting at noon at the Lied Activity Center Softball Field.

Teams comprised of dedicated employees from Sarpy County’s law enforcement, court system and Offutt AFB will compete for the coveted title of Champion in this one-day tournament, culminating with the Championship Game at 6pm. It will be a great family activity day with affordable food, fun games and exciting raffles. The community is asked to attend and cheer for all of the amazing players who are participating.

All entry fees, sponsorships, proceeds and donations from the day will go directly to Lift Up Sarpy County.

Teams include players from the Offutt Security Forces, Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office, Sarpy County Corrections, Bellevue Police Department, Papillion Police Department and Sarpy County Probation.

The idea was the brain child of Kelli Post, Specialized Probation Officer for Sarpy County. “Our offices had just moved from Bellevue and I was looking for a way for those in law enforcement to get to know each other better. The sense of community within our ranks is really something special. So when I started talking about a softball tournament, the first question asked was, ‘How can we use the tournament to give back?’ Turning the day into a fundraiser and donating the proceeds to Lift Up Sarpy County was an easy decision.” Law & Order Slugfest 2023

Lift Up Sarpy County Executive Director Tanya Gifford said, “We feel incredibly lucky to be a recipient of the funds from this tournament. It has been so much fun working with Kelli and all of the amazing Sarpy County divisions, too. In addition, individuals and businesses have been incredibly supportive of this family-friendly event. In a time when the need is so great across Sarpy County, this event will bring families together for some fun and help us fund our work.”

Community supporters of the event include Bio-One, Air Serv Heating and Air Conditioning, Angel Carl Marketing, Tactical 88, Frontier Justice, Edelbrock Group, Beardmore Auto, Nexius Nutrition Ralston and Woodhouse. In-kind sponsors include Omaha Steaks, Fontenelle Forrest and Chesterman Company.
